Swiftly moving on from our best gaming keyboard post, we now focus our attention on another massively important peripheral.
There are a host of features that make a gaming mouse special, these include but are not limited to the following:
– High CPI
– Type of grip
– IPS rating
– Weight
– The list goes on and on….
It's really tricky to make a special gaming mouse but there a few companies out there who have managed to do just that. Without further ado, let's find out what the best gaming mouse for 2019 is.
1. Logitech MX518
Technical Specifications
CPI | 16,000 |
Sensor | Optical |
Connectivity | USB |
Number of Buttons | 8 |
Left/Right Handed | Right Handed |
Weight | 0.22 lbs (101 grams) |
Kicking off our list is something truly special, the Logitech MX518 which manages to improve on its legendary predecessor in every way.
The original MX518's sensor only spotted a 1,800 CPI rating, whereas the new and improved model boasts a whopping 16,000 CPI HERO sensor. What exactly is a HERO sensor? Well, it's one of the most accurate and high performing sensors you can find on a gaming mouse.
The incredibly sensitive and precise nature of this sensor makes this mouse versatile. Not only can you become an FPS pro with the deadly accuracy on offer here, but you'll even improve your Microsoft office efficiency.
The design leaves something to be desired, but that really is the beauty of this Logitech range. They have cut out all of the unnecessary gimmicks that you often find with high-end brands, and simply delivered the best gaming mouse.
Interestingly, it also comes equipped with an inbuilt ARM 32 microprocessor that creates a tag-team with the sensitive optical sensor. This allows the Logitech MX518 to deliver a 1ms response rate, making it ideal for high pressure gaming situations.
Design wise, its matte finish is nothing spectacular but the minimalist approach works wonders.
When we consider the price tag, its a truly spectacular mouse and that's exactly what we would expect from the best gaming mouse for 2019.
2. Logitech G203 Prodigy
Technical Specifications
CPI | 8,000 |
Sensor | Optical |
Connectivity | USB |
Number of Buttons | 6 |
Left/Right Handed | Right Handed |
Weight | 3.0 oz (85 grams) |
Starting off with two Logitech gaming mice is a bold move on our part, but the G203 Prodigy is another incredible achievement.
Have you ever been tempted by one of those imported non-branded gaming mice that you find on Amazon at a bargain price? Here's a pro-tip, forget about them! The Logitech G203 Prodigy has seen sub-$25 prices in its life, and considering this is from a well-known brand we would strongly recommend spending that extra few bucks!
Let's quickly talk about the ergonomics, the G203 Prodigy uses Logitech's tried and tested near-ambidextrous shape to provide you with a comfortable experience. The active grip style of this mouse makes it perfect for the response that FPS and MOBA games require.
Whilst the sensor isn't their best, which isn't something you would expect from a sub-$25 gaming mouse, it is still up there with the high-end sensors. If we're honest, you won't likely notice a difference between the sensor in this mouse and more expensive gaming mice.
8,000 CPI is more than enough for the average user, and only if you specifically require more then will you start to see a difference.
This mouse is definitely a giant killer. If you're just getting started and looking to buy your first gaming peripherals then you really couldn't go wrong.
3. Corsair Ironclaw RGB
Technical Specifications
CPI | 18,000 |
Sensor | Optical |
Connectivity | USB |
Number of Buttons | 7 |
Left/Right Handed | Right Handed |
Weight | 3.7 oz (105 grams) |
Taking a breather from Logitech and Razer, we move onto another top brand in the gaming mouse world Corsair. The Ironclaw RGB is a fantastic gaming mouse for large hands, arguably the best.
It can feel a bit weighty at times, we are used to Corsair mice having adjustable weights. However, for the Ironclaw RGB this is not the case and it is very much a feature that we value.
The RGB lighting is a stunning addition and it's done spectacularly. You can customise it through Corsair's own iCue software, just be prepared for an interface that isn't that intuitive.
There's even something clever going on with the outer shell of the mouse. Logitech have managed to create a separate material for each panel of the mouse. This means that you will have various benefits in all the right areas which include a super grippy rubber side and scroll wheel.
7 programmable buttons are also on offer here if that's something which is a deal breaker for you.
The Corsair Ironclaw RGB is a fantastic gaming mouse especially for people with large hands. There are things about it which we would change, but for the price you pay it really isn't bad at all.
4. Razer Deathadder Elite
Technical Specifications
CPI | 16,000 |
Sensor | Optical |
Connectivity | USB |
Number of Buttons | 6 |
Left/Right Handed | Right Handed |
Weight | 3.7 oz (105 grams) |
The Razer Deathadder is an all-time classic in the gaming mouse industry. It still retains that classic shape which can be used for palm or claw grip, depending on your preference.
Rocking one of, if not, the best sensors which sports a 16,000 CPI. This CPI tagged in with some clever engineering from Razer will deliver near perfect tracking. You could probably drag the mouse along your mat as fast as you want and it would still track it without any issues.
If you're not entirely sure about what you need from a gaming mouse, and you're not on the strictest budget then get a Razer Deathadder.
Out of all the gaming mice that we tried and tested for this post. We have to say that the Razer Deathadder is the best when it comes to switching between productivity tasks and gaming, it's seamless.
The build quality is also second to none, you get Razer's 2 year warranty which makes a claim that the mouse can withstand up to 50 million clicks. You also get 7 programmable buttons which allows you to remap them to whatever you want, if that's your thing.
It's about as versatile and all-round as you can currently get on the market. The mouse itself hasn't really changed for the last few years for a reason.
5. Steelseries Sensei 310
Technical Specifications
CPI | 12,000 |
Sensor | Optical |
Connectivity | USB |
Number of Buttons | 8 |
Left/Right Handed | Ambidextrous |
Weight | 0.20 lbs (92.1 grams) |
Wrapping off our top 5 gaming mouse list is the Steelseries Sensei 310. The key feature that this mouse has above our other entries is that it's ambidextrous. That's right, we're looking out for you lefties out there!
It's not the most stunning mouse to look at but it does come packed with some pretty impressive hardware. Steelseries have made the size and shape of the thumb buttons noticeably different from previous versions. This has created a slight issue, during our review we accidentally mis-clicked on this a couple of times.
Something worth noting is that this mouse might not suit anyone who has large hands due to the size and weight of it. But even with that you don't often get ambidextrous mice and the Sensei 310 does it pretty well.
The new material used provides a more more grippy surface. It even ensures that you won't get that horrible palm sweat after a particularly heaving gaming session.
In short, it's another fantastic gaming mouse that offers something a little bit different to the rest which is a perfect way for us to wrap up this top 5 list.
We hope you've found this post useful and perhaps learnt something new? If not then don't worry, at least you've managed to find the right gaming mouse for you right…right?
